Frequently Asked Questions

A hackathon is an event where individuals or teams collaborate intensively to create a project or solve a problem within a time span of 24 hours. It can involve coding, designing, and pitching innovative solutions.

BeachHacks is open to university students (that are 18+) of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced developers. Participants can be from any field of study, not just computer science or engineering.

No, you don’t need coding experience to participate! Many hackathons have workshops, mentors, and resources to help beginners get started. Participants with skills in design, project management, or business can also contribute to teams.

You can build a wide variety of projects, from apps and websites to hardware prototypes and AI models. The scope often depends on the theme or challenges provided by our organizers or sponsors.

BeachHacks is completely free to attend. We provide meals to attendants who participate!

No, you don’t need a team to participate. Many hackathons have team formation sessions at the start, where you can meet other participants and form a team. Solo participation is also an option in some events.

Bring your laptop, charger, and any other tools you might need, like a mouse or headphones. Also bring deodorant.
